Many standards, and where necessary, all clays and clay blends can be wet-processed and supplied as filter-cakes. For this purpose the as-quarried, moist clay is suspended in water, without the use of chemical additives such as deflocculants. It is subsequently refined by removing naturally occurring impurities, through the use of vibrating sieves. This procedure is followed by mechanical water-removal in filter-presses, without the use of thermal drying. According to requirements, the sieves can have a fineness of between 250 and 75 µm.
Filter cakes can be delivered loose by lorry/truck, rail or ship, or alternatively on pallets.
